I came to the US when I was three and speak English with no Russian accent. However, I have been surprised at hearing myself add in Russian soft vowels in English words on rare occasions.

When answering the doctor’s questions about what I can or cannot see, I sometimes hear myself inject Russian soft vowels. Is it that I am so concentrated in trying to figure out if I can see something in double or if I am alternating so quickly that my mind is playing tricks on me that I can’t even maintain a steady American accent?
